A Seperate Reception!

Many couples who decide to have a destination wedding struggle with the fact that not everyone will be able to attend the wedding. That was something that we really had to think about before we decided to have the wedding in Mexico. We came up with the idea of having a reception after the wedding back in the US. That way we can include all of our friends and family and do some "traditional" wedding reception activities such as having a wedding cake, tossing the bouquet, and dancing to our song! We also thought it would be really neat to show a video of our actual wedding at the reception so that everyone can share our special day with us!
In keeping with the theme of our wedding, we are going to have a Carribean style casual reception somewhere local. We are inviting tons of friends and family and having it catered by a local traditional food vendor. We are now looking for a DJ and starting to think about the date that we would like to have the reception. I don't want to wait too long after the wedding, but we are also going to have a lot to do when we get home from our trip. I am hoping to have the party at the end of July. My roommate is going to help me make the invitations and I am planning on doing the decorations with a few of my friends and my sisters. We think it is such a great idea to get everyone together and have a fun and relaxing time after we get home!

I skim a lot of blogs, and so far yours is in the Top 3 of my list of favorites. I'm going to dive in and try my hand at it, so wish me luck.
It'll be in a totally different area than yours (mine is about penile extenders) I know, it sounds strange, but it's like anything, once you learn more about it, it's pretty cool. It's mostly about penile extenders related articles and subjects.
I agree with having the reception back in the US...so that the people that were not able to go the wedding they still feel apart of your special day! When I was planning on my day, it was going to be a destination wedding in his home country and we thought about having the reception back in the US also... but anyway...by the way if you haven't found a DJ...there is one that I found $275 for 4 hours...he is The Entertainment Guy..his number is in the phone book. Just a little helpful information. :0
